“Oh my God, okay, it’s happening. Everybody, stay calm!” – Michael Scott, probably, finding out that the Highway 98 and S Church Street intersection is finally getting a traffic light.

After years of praying for a gap in traffic, it’s finally happening.
Here’s the thing, though. Before it gets better, it’s going to get worse, but the pain is temporary.

Starting Monday, July 21st, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) crews will close the shoulder on Highway 98 and shut down the westbound right turn lane. The southbound lane of S Church Street will also be closed, and traffic will be detoured through the Del Taco loop to access 98. The bike lane will remain open, but that’s ONLY for bikes. Y’all don’t go gettin’ any wild ideas. The sidewalk on 98 will be closed, and pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the north side of the highway.

On Tuesday, the 22nd, the northbound right turn lane on Moll Drive will be closed, and the shoulder on Highway 98 will continue to be shut down.
We know that’s a lot to keep track of. So, here’s our advice: if you can, just avoid the 98/S Church Street intersection on Monday and Tuesday next week.
It’s been a long wait, but relief is on the way. Hang in there, folks. We’re here if you need us.
