Ester J. Hailey, known to all who loved her as JoAnn, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on November 9, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on February 24, 1937, in Sterling, Oklahoma, to Joe and Ruth Simpson, JoAnn lived a life defined by warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Known for her quick wit and vibrant sense of humor, she brought laughter and light into every room she entered.
Ester became a widow at a young age, with 4 small children, JoAnn faced life’s challenges with remarkable resilience. She poured her energy into meaningful work assisting women during their most difficult times and advocating for veterans, causes that reflected her compassion, her courage, and her belief in helping others find dignity and opportunity.
A beloved wife, mother, and friend, JoAnn created a home filled with love, generosity, and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carlton Hailey, and her eldest son, Billy Glenn Hailey.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra and Ruth, who will forever cherish her humor, her wisdom, her guidance, and the countless memories they shared. JoAnn’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered with gratitude for the time we shared.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 16, 2025, 1:30 p.m., at Gulf Cemetery, 1466 CR-393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, 32459.
