This morning at approximately 6:28 a.m., the DeFuniak Springs Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 148 Fallen Heroes Way, the location of the Walton County Geographic Information Systems Department at Wee Care Park in DeFuniak Springs, along with assisting agencies, Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida Friends of Liberty Volunteer Fire District, Argyle Volunteer Fire Department, Office of the City Marshal, DeFuniak Springs Police and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Florida
Upon arrival, firefighters noticed light smoke rising from the building. Fortunately, all individuals had safely exited the premises, and no injuries were reported. Firefighting personnel dedicated over 45 minutes to contain and extinguish the fire, demonstrating their unwavering commitment and courage.
“The situation could have posed considerable danger. The swift response of our teams ensured that everyone was safe,” said Fire Chief Ross Sheffield. “We are grateful that no one was injured.” The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified and will investigate to determine the cause of the incident.
The DeFuniak Springs Fire Department extends its appreciation to all local agencies for their support at the scene.
