EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — The 96th Test Wing’s Drug Demand Reduction team won the 35th Annual Secretary of Defense Community Drug Awareness Award for the second year in a row.
The program earned the award spotlighting its efforts supporting local communities, partners and service members.
“Eglin’s DDR team consistently committed its effort to enhancing military readiness by placing a focus on debunking public misinformation and leveraging multimedia platforms to bring awareness to the program,” said Michael McClellan, Eglin’s DDR program manager.
The program protects health and readiness by preventing drug abuse through education, proactive outreach, and community awareness initiatives. These efforts inform about the dangers of illicit and misuse of drugs and banned substances.
“Leveraging local partnerships were key in our ability to target a 25% reduction in drug and banned substance related incidents,” McClellan said.
The DDR team plans to continue creating local community partnerships and improve campaigns leveraging social platforms to combat substance abuse trends.
“The goal of Eglin DDR surpasses winning awards. Our goal is to remain the premier resource for our service and community partners,” said McClellan.
