This morning, just after 9:30 a.m., Walton County Fire Rescue crews responded to Linda Lane in Liberty after a caller reported a smoke coming from the roof of a nearby shed.
A WCFR volunteer firefighter arrived within minutes, quickly performed a size up, and pulled a hose line to begin initial fire attack. Crews from DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, WCFR Medic 7 crews, and volunteers with Liberty Volunteer Fire District arrived on scene moments later. DeFuniak firefighters performed a forced entry on the shed door, clearing the path for WCFR personnel who entered and brought the fire under control.
No injuries were reported.
The shed sustained significant damage, and early findings suggest the fire may have started near a battery charging device located inside. While the cause is still under investigation, it appears to be accidental.
Quick action and coordinated teamwork helped keep the flames contained to the structure and prevented the fire from spreading.
