Just before midnight on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Walton County Fire Rescue, City of DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, and volunteers with Argyle Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist Liberty Volunteer Fire District in battling a structure fire on Highway 90 West in the Liberty community.
The call came in at 11:44 p.m. reporting an abandoned home on fire. Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully involved and worked quickly to bring the blaze under control. Crews prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby camper and ensured that four dogs inside the camper were safe.
The property owner was not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
