Thursday afternoon, South Walton Fire District and Walton County Board of County Commissioners, Florida leadership hosted a Monument Acceptance Ceremony at Pilcher Park. Fire District, County, and community representatives came together to formally introduce the AirHeart-1 Memorial Monument now located at the park in Santa Rosa Beach.
The hope is that the monument will stand as a permanent fixture of remembrance and honor for the crew of AirHeart-1 who was tragically killed in a medical aviation crash on October 20, 2004.
The monument’s location carries deep meaning, as it stands in proximity to the same place personnel searched for their fallen brothers within the waters of the Choctawhatchee Bay.
