Robert F. Gurske passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 17, 2025 at the age of 98 years old. Bob was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin. He served in both World War II and the Korean War before beginning an extensive career with the Social Security Administration. He retired to Santa Rosa Beach from Atlanta thirty-five years ago.
Bob was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Santa Rosa Beach Golf Club. He was an even more avid Jeopardy, crossword and Sudoku puzzle fan.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sue; his sons, Jeff (Marilyn) and John (Betsy); and his daughter, Jan Gosling. He has five grandchildren, David (Kelly) Gurske, Jennifer Gosling, Tom (Michelle) Gosling, Kendall (Nick) Tosco, and Kenneth Gurske, as well as eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Willliam and Mrytle (Larsen); siblings, Dorothy Schweder and Larry Gurske; and his first wife, Sally Gurske (Backlund).
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caring and Sharing of South Walton in his name.
