TUESDAY NIGHT IN DEFUNIAK SPRINGS: The Walton County Sheriff’s Office received an alert regarding a stolen vehicle traveling in the area.
A deputy spotted the vehicle parked at McDonald’s on 331 S and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Luis Gerardo Maldonado, 43, of Cleburne, Texas, was detained.Maldonado admitted to stealing the vehicle from Texas and was on his way back. He was placed under arrest, and during a search, methamphetamine was found on him.
He was charged with grand theft auto and possession of methamphetamine. He was given a $10,000 bond and is still incarcerated at the time of this release.
