Manpreet Singh, 31, of Alhambra, California, fraudulently deceived the victim in this case that their financial institution was not credible and to remove funds. He then directed the victim to purchase gold coins valued at $280,493.
The victim was further convinced to give the gold coins to a “government agent,” determined to be Singh after he traveled to Walton County from California, on the pretext that the gold coins would be delivered to the Treasury Department Vault for safekeeping. After Singh collected the stolen gold from the victim, he delivered it to co-conspirators and the funds were never returned.
On June 25th, Singh was arrested by authorities in California following a court appearance on similar charges. On July 15th, he was booked into the Walton County Jail after extradition from California.
We would like to give a special shout-out to the San Diego Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit and the FBI Economic Crimes Task Force in Southern California. They caught him in a sting operation for a similar gold fraud theft.
