Tuesday night marked a proud milestone for the Walton County Fire Rescue Cadet Post 850, as cadets, families, and mentors gathered for the first-ever ceremony celebrating their accomplishments.
The evening included heartfelt shield presentations and promotions, recognizing the dedication and hard work of our cadets over the past year.
Under the leadership of Battalion Chief Thomas McElyea, Lieutenant Brian Mixon, Lieutenant Richard Anderson, and FF/EMT Jake Wooley, Cadet Post 850 has grown from an idea into a thriving program raising more than $10,000, competing in state competitions, and inspiring the next generation of firefighters.
Promotions were proudly awarded to:
* Samuel Adams – Promoted to Lieutenant
* Aiden Anderson – Promoted to Lieutenant
* Talen McElyea – Promoted to Lieutenant
We also celebrated the achievements and bright futures of cadets Randy Mixon, Camden Carter, Jeremiah Curry, Zachary Hickingbottom, Judson Reed, Tyler Sheflin, and Coren Murray, each working toward careers in fire rescue, emergency medicine, or public service.
The success of WCFR Post 850 is a testament to the commitment of our cadets, their families, and the community that stands behind them. Together, they’ve proven that the future of public service in Walton County is in great hands.
