In February, our Walton County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputies (SRDs) participated in specialized training at a vacant hotel in Miramar Beach scheduled to be demolished.
This comprehensive training included active shooter scenarios, hands-on breaching techniques, and tactical medical care.
The deputies who attended were extremely thankful for the opportunity to train in realistic exercises, with many describing it as the best training experience of their careers.
While many of the Training Division employees contributed to this effort, Deputy Steven Rogers was the driving force behind its success.
Deputy Rogers, whose role focuses on ensuring School Resource Deputies are exceptionally trained and prepared, played a pivotal role in organizing this event. Despite the short notice caused by the hotel’s impending demolition, Deputy Rogers and his team skillfully coordinated the numerous moving parts to deliver a highly effective and impactful training session.
This achievement is just one example of Deputy Rogers’ outstanding contributions.
He was instrumental in planning last summer’s School Resource Deputy active shooter training in collaboration with the FBI and retooling the in-service training program to better address SRD-specific scenarios.
Deputy Rogers consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the agency’s SRDs are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their roles.
Join us in congratulating Deputy Steven Rogers on being named Deputy of the 1st Quarter.
