On June 21, 2025, a true Earth Angel found her wings and returned home to Heaven. Her grace, love and light remain with us, echoing in every memory, gesture, and quiet moment. Though we each feel her absence differently, were united by the depth of her presence- and the weight of her loss

I of course am writing on the passing of the simply wonderful, Gwynn Baker, your friend and mine.

One might ask, how do you know she was my friend, and that question has the simplest answer. Because everyone she ever met became her friend.

Gwynn was born in Waco, Texas on April 25, 1952. She was raised in Prattville, Alabama and went to college at Auburn University. Gwynn is survived by her soulmate, Alan, her amazing children, Sarah and Jason, daughter in law Michelle and son in law Darin, granddaughters, Abby and Sadie and grandsons Dylan and Brayden, all of which lit up her heart and filled her with so much joy. Gwynn loved to talk about her family and share all the joys they brought to her life.

Many of us know Gwynn for her amazing baked goods and love of food that she prepared for us and our community since the early 1990s. Gwynn was the original owner of La Lobas bakery on Sugar Drive that found its fame in Blue Mountain Beach, Florida and then as Blueberry Hill Bakery in Freeport, Florida where she always donned her tie dye bonnet and radiant personality.

With a last name of Baker, how could she not own a bakery? On of the neatest traits of Gwynn is that every baked good, meal, bowl of beans and greens all contained one common ingredient. A tough of love. That was her mantra and she lived that daily.

She touched all of our lives with love and she knew nothing but love.

Our friend leaves this world after many years of battling cancer, yet even to the time of her passing, she was positive and full of light.

While I know our lives here on earth will be impacted with grief and loss. We all must rejoice knowing this earth Angel has found her way home.

She has left a legacy here and simply is one of the greatest human beings I have ever known. I will miss you my friend until we meet again in heaven above…

Services will be held at a later date.
