Ms. Katherine Bacon- Schaefer, 56, passed away June 2, 2025. She was born on May 9, 1969 in Greenville, South Carolina to Richard Dean Bacon and Margaret Joyce Duty.
Ms. Bacon- Schaefer was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was a graduate of Walton High School in 1987. Ms. Bacon-Schafer was employed with the Walton County Property Appraisers Office for almost 27 years. She excelled in customer service and as an “Exemptions Expert”. She was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, Florida State University (Go Noles!), Nascar, and animals, particularly dogs and turtles. She participated in playing basketball, softball, and volleyball in both middle school and high school. She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, and her many fur-babies, most recently her Labrador named Tank.
“KitKat” will be best remembered for her contagious laughter, radiant smile, comforting hugs, and beautiful blue eyes.
Ms. Bacon- Schaefer was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Dean Bacon II, one uncle, Miles Martin, one aunt, Eleanor Theriot, and one cousin, Alfred “Lil Al” Theriot.
Ms. Bacon- Schaefer is survived by two sisters, Margaret Stella Dina Edwards and Judith LaSage Williams, uncles Jimmy Martin and Mark Martin, aunts Peggy Theriot and Lois Martin, nephews Eli Cawthon, Clay Cawthon, Emory Edwards, Cody Williams, Marino Williams, niece Nyssa Carroll, and cousins Melissa Tucker, Matt Martin, Linda Doub, Brenda Neenan, John Theriot, Shade Theriot, Meg Reagan, and numerous third cousins. She is also survived by her life long best friend, Heather Brannon Brackin.
Receiving of friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dale Paul officiating.
