Mrs. Kathy Carroll Laird, age 60, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2025. She was born on June 10, 1964 to Mary Holley Cartwright and Dearon T. Carroll in Massachusetts.
Kathy was a lifelong resident of Walton County, Florida. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was known for her attention to detail, love for others, volunteer work with the Guardian ad Litem, and her most asked for sweet tea. She met the love of her life, Ralph Laird and his young daughter, Jessica (Laird) Peterson in 1986 and they became one family on May 14, 1988. Soon after, they completed their family by adding their precious son, Jay Dylan Laird. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and “Fur Mama.” She beamed with pride when she told others about her two children and six grandchildren; Athan, Lael, Ariel, Jeiel, Jay and Drake. They were known as Mimi’s babies and they could always count on her knowing all of their favorite toys, treats and even the right sippy cup at her house. Kathy was “Fur Mama” to the sweetest dog, Homer, who stayed by her side as a loving companion.
Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her father, Dearon Carroll and her grandmother, Daisy Holley.
Mrs. Laird is survived by her husband, Ralph Laird, and children, Jessica (Adam)Peterson, Dylan (Alex) Laird, and her six grandchildren, her mother, Mary Cartwright, her brother, Jimmy Carroll, her sister Cynthia Carroll, her sister Stephanie (Mack) Bailey, her mother-in-law Mary Laird, her sister-in-law Linda (Stephen) Young, brother-in-law Everette Laird, and numerous nieces and nephews that were always dear to her heart.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; with Dr. Mark Rathel and Pastor Adam Peterson officiating.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home at 1000 Chemstrand Rd Cantonment, FL 32533.
Pallbearers will be Will Wooten, Robbie Kroll, Kelby Willcox, Athan Peterson, Burt Cosson and Mikey Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Campbell, Sammy Hobbs, Ronald Edwards, Rome Garrett, Eugene Lawrence, Johnny Roehm, Billy Ray Willcox, Mack Bailey, Everette Laird and Steve Young.
Burial will be held at Cluster Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
