Please be advised that the City of Freeport Election will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Polls at the Freeport City Hall will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. If you area a registered voter in the city limits of Freeport by June 9, 2025, you may cast your vote in this election. Accessible voting equipment is available upon request in all polling places. This is a nonpartisan election.
If your signature or name has changed, please go by the elections office and update your information or call the Supervisor of Elections Office for a form to be sent to you. If your address has changed, you can update it by telephone or online at votewalton.gov. Sample ballots will be available at votewalton.gov and will be published in the newspaper.
The registration books close on June 9, 2025, for new registrations. Address updates may be made at that time.
Candidate qualifying will be for Mayor and City Council Seats 1, 2, and 4. It will be held from Tuesday, June 10th – Friday, June 13th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Candidates may submit qualifying papers early beginning May 27, 2025. Candidate qualifying is conducted in Freeport City Hall with the City Clerk.
You may request a vote-by-mail ballot by calling the elections office or using the online order form on votewalton.gov/request. The deadline to request a mailed ballot for this election is June 26, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. You may track the status of your vote-by-mail ballot at votewalton.gov/status.
Canvassing Board meeting are open to the public. Public testing of voting machines and ballots for this election will be held July 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Elections Office at the DeFuniak Springs Courthouse.
Canvassing of Vote-by-Mail ballots will be held July 8, 2025 at Freeport City Hall. No results will be available before 7:00 p.m. If possible, results will also be certified.
If required, there will be a canvassing of provisional and cured ballots – with possible certification of results and post-election audit – on July 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the Elections Office at the Defuniak Springs Courthouse. If required, a recount, elections certification, post-election audit will be held on July 11, 2025 at the Defuniak Springs Courthouse.
Voting will be held at the Freeport City Hall as 112 St. Hwy. 20 W in Freeport.
