MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (May 29, 2025)—–The 2025 Southeastern Conference Spring Meetings concluded Thursday at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort. The annual gathering included meetings of the SEC’s Presidents and Chancellors, Athletics Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Faculty Athletics Representatives, Head Football Coaches and Head Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches.
An awards celebration was held Wednesday night, honoring the successes of the past year in the SEC. Individuals honored were LSU volleyball’s Madison Martin, Florida track and field’s Jadon Maddux, Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year; Dr. William J. Murphy of the Texas A&M University, SEC Professor of the Year; and Georgia’s Abby McCulloh and Ole Miss’ Mason Nichols, H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
The television schedule for the first three weeks of the 2025 football season was announced on Thursday, in addition to broadcast information for several rivalry games throughout the season.
Following Thursday’s meetings, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey addressed the media and discussed several topics:
**The Presidents & Chancellors and the Athletics Directors met separately and in joint session today and continued to discuss the many important issues facing college athletics.
**The Presidents & Chancellors unanimously approved and accepted a Proposed University Participant Agreement related to the pending House v. NCAA settlement. The agreement binds and commits all 16 SEC members to abide by the rules established by the implementation of the settlement. The group also approved an update to the Access to Competition area policy to establish a flat fee of $500,000 for each violation rather than an escalating fee per violation.
** The Athletics Directors:
• Approved a courtside seating proposal in the sport of basketball that will allow for more patrons to sit courtside for basketball games.
• Approved a revision of tie-breakers in the sport of basketball (to reduce or eliminate possibility of coin toss).
• Authorized the Conference Office to seek a neutral site to conduct the SEC Softball Tournament beginning in 2027.
• Approved including all 9 SEC schools that sponsor gymnastics to participate in the SEC Gymnastics Championship. Previously only the top 8 schools participated in the Championship.
**Other activity included the election of new SEC Executive Committee members:
- Donde Plowman, Tennessee – President of SEC Executive Committee
- Mun Choi, Missouri – Vice President (will become president in 2027)
- Paul Batista, FAR at Texas A&M – Secretary
- Glenn Boyce, Ole Miss (will become VP in 2027)
